The 6 Best Apple Watch Games to Play Right Now

The Apple Watch is a very useful device that tracks your steps, controls your Apple iPhone, keeps accurate time, and can do much more. Although Apple’s smartwatch is a fantastic accessory for everyday use, it can also play games to help you pass the time.

We rounded up the best mobile games for the Apple Watch to help you start playing. Believe it or not, but you can play all of these games on your wrist, while they're also compatible with the iPhone or iPad — or both. Luckily, most of the games featured in this article are free to download and play (with in-app purchases available). However, some of the games are premium purchases for just a few bucks, so they won’t break the bank.

Star Duster

At $2 on the Apple App Store, Star Duster is a retro-style game that mimics gameplay from old school Nintendo Game & Watch and Tiger Electronics handhelds. It features two game modes: One is level-based, while the other lives-based — the object is to catch falling space junk with the Digital Crown as your controls. It’s pretty similar to the Atari classic Tempest.

Star Duster, which serves as the prequel to the mobile game Star Jolt, is also available to play on Apple iPhone and Apple iMessage.

Lifeline: Beside You in Time

The game Lifeline: Beside You in Time, which goes for $4, is a text-based adventure where you guide an astronaut to safety from a black hole. It’s up to you to actually help him or let him get sucked into a time warp, as the story unfolds and branches off into different directions based on your decisions.

The game is also available on iPhone and as an iPad game, so you can play across devices and not miss a beat.

Dare the Monkey: Go Bananas!

Although the Apple Watch has a display size that’s up to just 49mm at its largest (with the Apple Watch Ultra), there are a few platformer games available to play. Dare the Monkey: Go Bananas! is a one-tap action-platformer where you play as a monkey that runs, jumps, and rolls to dodge traps and enemies in the jungle. The graphics are surprisingly layered for such a small scale, while the gameplay is described as “extremely addictive” and “super casual.”

Dare the Monkey: Go Bananas! is free (with in-app purchases) and available for the iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and iMessage too.

Chess

If you ever wanted to play Chess on-the-go, the classic board game is available to play on the Apple Watch. It’s free to play and cross platform with the iPad, if you want considerably more real estate. Best of all? You can play anyone at any skill level from around the world — all from the convenience of your wrist.

Octopuz

Octopuz is a memory-based game where you’re shown a design pattern and then you have to match the same design pattern in a limited amount of time once it goes away. The more you play, the harder and more intricate the design gets. The mobile game is made to improve your memory and workout your brain.

It’s free to play (with in-app purchases) and also available on the iPhone and iPad.

Arcadia!

Want retro gaming on your wrist? Arcadia! is a retro gaming collection with more than 20 classic game clones — including Snake, Galaga, OutRun, Pong, Breakout, and much more — that’s playable on the Apple Watch. It’s only $2 for the entire collection with no ads, no in-app purchases, or data tracking — just retro gaming on-the-go.

Meanwhile, Arcadia! is also available to play on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.

Magic Stone Knights releases new update with more characters and costumes

Neowiz has just released an exciting new update for its recently launched title, Magic Stone Knights. The mobile match-3 puzzler sees the addition of three new characters, Advent Celia, Themis, and Kaede, alongside a number of new costumes and gameplay improvements.

Let’s kick off this Magic Stone Knights update with the most anticipated feature - the new six-star character. Advent Celia ‘The Wicked’ joins the game as an Advent Boss, who is quite a formidable fighter. The only way to unlock her full power is to clear the challenge that awaits players. Celia makes a great inclusion to the game as she aims to shake up pre-existing strategies.

Accompanying Advent Celia is the debutant, Themis. The five-star hero joins North America for the first time, bringing her distinctive Western aesthetics to the title. On top of that, players can also add Kaede to their squad, who’s different from Themis thanks to her oriental design. The European knight, Themis, and Kaede make quite a dynamic duo comprising the best aspects of the East and the West.

Meanwhile, the update also improves on the in-game customization and personalization experiences. This patch will add three new costumes, all inspired by sports. Players can hit a home run with the Baseball Team Alche, embrace the cold with the Miracle on Ice Themis, or get ready to throw some punches using the Wrestling Champion Arwen. These new costumes really up Magic Stone Knights’ visual appeal.

To top it off, players will also find a number of quality-of-life improvements alongside the highly awaited shop reset feature.

My Talking Angela 2 wins Industry’s Choice Award and Most Adoptable Award at Green Game Jam 2023

It’s a time for celebration at Outfit7 as its popular, virtual pet simulator, My Talking Angela 2, recently received both the Industry’s Choice Award and the Most Adoptable Award at the 4th annual Green Game Jam.

These special honours cap off an amazing contribution by the multinational company to the effort to raise awareness of ecological causes around the world, in which special in-game events - designed to encourage players to nurture in-game plants and flowers - were implemented into two of its hit Talking Tom & Friends titles: Talking Tom Gold Run and My Talking Angela 2. As part of the campaign, Outfit7 also donated $60,000 to the non-profit organisation, Re:wild, which is dedicated to the protection and restoration of wildlife.

My Talking Angela 2’s flower growing and bee supporting in-game event earned special recognition with both the Industry Choice Award, which considers alignment with the wildlife theme, real-world impact, creativity, and educational elements, and the Most Adoptable Award, which acknowledges its seamless integration potential into other games. Xinyu Qian, CEO of Outfit7, was delighted by these honours, stating that the company was “thrilled to have been recognized for our commitment at this year's Green Game Jam Awards. At Outfit7, we believe that it’s our responsibility to take action to protect the planet and use the power of our brand, and our Talking Tom & Friends characters, to raise awareness around these important topics."

While this year’s Green Game Jam has now come to a close, you can still expect plenty more exciting events in My Talking Angela 2 and Talking Tom Gold Run, which you can download now for free on iOS and Android.
